Independent closes deals on Documentary Slate

After premiering Out of Competition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Jim Jarmusch’s cinematic love letter to Iggy Pop and The Stooges GIMME DANGER has sold to Transmission for Australia/ New Zealand, Studiocanal for German speaking territories with FilmCoopi taking theatrical rights in Switzerland, Le Pacte for France, Non Stop for Scandinavia, Avalon for Spain, BIM for Italy, Leopardo for Portugal and AMA Films for Greece. Poland is with Gutek, CIS and Baltic States with A One Films, MCF Megacom has Former Yugoslavia, King Records have acquired Japan, Taiwan is with B-Side and Edko has Hong Kong.
A deal has been closed with Amazon for all English speaking territories. ICM partners represented the film in North America.
GIMME DANGER will next screen at Toronto Film Festival in the TIFF DOCS section.

SUPERSONIC, Mat Whitecross directed documentary on the ultimate band of the ‘90s Oasis, produced by the team behind SENNA and AMY, has sold to Madman for Australia, Ascot Elite for German speaking territories, Lucky Red for Italy, Scanbox for Scandinavia, Avalon for Spain and Cherry Pickers for Benelux. Japan has been acquired by Kadokawa, Hong Kong is with Edko, Korea with Cinelux, Taiwan with Moviecloud and Thailand with Documentary Club. Cinemex in Mexico have also come on board, as have Yes DBS for Israel.
The UK is with EOne and Canada with D Films. The US deal for the film is currently being wrapped and will be announced in due course.
SUPERSONIC was produced by James Gay Rees for On the Corner (Senna/Amy, Fiona Neilson for Mint Pictures (Spike Island), and Simon Halfon for Nemperor (Sleuth). Executive Producer is Asif Kapadia (Senna/Amy).
The film was financed by Lorton Entertainment Limited founded by Julian Bird, who are also partners in the UK release with EOne.
As previously reported, UPHE Content Group will release I AM BOLT globally this autumn. Independent represented the documentary on the ‘triple-triple’ Olympic gold medallist for Fulwell 73.

Documentary thriller THE CONFESSIONS OF THOMAS QUICK from Bafta winning filmmaker Brian Hill, looking for the truth behind Sweden’s most notorious seral killer, has sold to FilmBuff for North America. Yes DBS have Israel, Denmark is with DR, and Norway with VGTV. The UK release was done by Picturehouse.
The film was produced by Century Films Prodution in co-production with Film I Vast and Filmgate Films. Film 4 and BFI present.
